Sanitary Pad Distribution
Menstrual health and hygiene are one of the strategic objectives which lead to women and girl empowerment. The need for menstrual hygiene management at the government school is seen at utmost importance in order to reduce the absenteeism of girl students due to menstrual conditions like no access to menstrual hygiene materials and WASH facilities at school. Likewise, this program is also expected to create a promising learning environment for girls.
Through this program NELUMBO, NEPAL has reached the girl students of rural areas located on the periphery of Pokhara Metropolitan City. These are the area where menstrual taboos are still highly prevalent and affect all the female population in many ways, some of it to be mentioned as physical and psychological aspects. Sanitary pads are handed over to the school administration which will further be distributed to the girl student as per their need. NELUMBO, NEPAL ensures that it provides enough quantity of pads according to the number of the target population.
In order to achieve such goals, NELUMBO, NEPAL has provided sanitary pads to various government schools at Dhital and Dhampus of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality which started in early 2019. As of July 2021, we have reached 320 students in four different schools under this program.
