Sweater Distribution Machhapuchhre RM-06, Dhital on 10th of Dec. 2023 (Mangsir 24, 2080)
NELUMBO has always worked to make a suitable learning environment for the students in its working areas. On the 10th of December 2023, (Mangsir 24, 2080) a sweater distribution program was conducted at the Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-06, Dhital for six government schools: four primary and two secondary schools in the region. The program aimed to provide warm clothing to the students during the cold winter months and ensure that their learning process is not hampered. Furthermore, school bags were given to every student in one of the primary schools to prevent the repetition of the sweater distribution program, since another organization had already distributed sweaters to all the students in that school recently.
The distribution process was carried out in an organized and efficient manner. Before the distribution of the sweater and bag, a needs assessment was done, which was followed by inquiring with the representatives of all the schools about the appropriate size of all the students for a proper fit of the sweaters.
The sweaters were distributed to all the students at the government schools in the area, regardless of their financial background. The process was carried out in the presence of local authorities to ensure that it was done fairly and that everyone received a sweater. Similar was the process of bag distribution.
The sweater, as well as the bag distribution program, had a positive impact on the students and their families. Many of the students come from low-income families and would not have been able to afford warm clothing for the winter season and proper bags to carry their school belongings. The sweaters and the bags provided them with much-needed warmth and comfort, allowing them to focus on their studies without worrying about the cold weather and the proper way to carry their belongings to and forth school.
The sweater and bag distribution to 387 and 55 students (a total of 442 students) respectively at Dhital was a success, thanks to the efforts of the Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-06, and the respective school. The total cost of the sweaters and bag was NRs. 235,820, the details of which is in ANNEX I and II. Such initiatives go a long way in promoting education and ensuring that every child has an equal opportunity to learn and grow.
