Teacher Support Program Machhapuchhre RM-07, Dhampus on Bhadra 02, 2081 | August 18, 2024

Most government schools in Nepal are under-resourced and face challenges in both attracting and retaining teachers. This issue is particularly severe in rural areas and has worsened in the post-COVID era. The crisis is fueled by a dwindling pool of teachers, high turnover rates, career changes, and increased demand. Since education is closely tied to development, this shortage of teachers poses a threat to national stability and overall progress. Many countries have achieved significant advancements through substantial investments in education. Therefore, investing in education and supporting teachers is crucial for the nation’s development; otherwise, the country risks facing significant and irreversible losses in the future.
NELUMBO, NEPAL, since its initial year, has always been working towards the availability of quality education for all children and has conducted various educational programs. Our initiatives in the education sector have made significant progress in narrowing the gap in educational opportunities. We believe that education is a fundamental right, and every child deserves access to quality schooling, as it provides the foundation for academic, professional, and social success. Our efforts have focused on empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue their dreams and ambitions. As part of this commitment, NELUMBO, NEPAL has launched a teacher support program over the past two years through which it has been providing skilled, experienced, and qualified teachers to two government schools — Shree Udaya Secondary School and Shree Janapriye Basic School of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-07, Dhampus. Each year, an official agreement is signed between NELUMBO, NEPAL, the concerned government school, and the respective local government, detailing various terms and conditions. This year’s agreement was signed on Shrawan 27, 2081 (August 11, 2024).
