A majority of government schools in Nepal remain under-resourced, facing persistent challenges in both recruiting and retaining competent teachers. This problem is more pronounced in rural regions and has further intensified in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ongoing crisis stems from an insufficient number of teachers, frequent resignations, career transitions, and an increasing demand for education. Given the strong link between education and national development, this shortage of educators poses a serious risk to the country’s stability and progress. Globally, many nations have demonstrated that investing heavily in education leads to sustainable growth. Hence, prioritizing education and strengthening support for teachers are vital steps toward ensuring long-term national development and preventing potential setbacks in the years ahead.

NELUMBO, NEPAL, since its initial year, has always been working towards the availability of quality education for all children through various educational programs. Our initiatives in the education sector have made significant progress in narrowing the gap in educational opportunities in our working area. We believe that education is a fundamental right, and every child deserves access to quality schooling, as it provides the foundation for academic, professional, and social success. Our efforts have focused on empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to pursue their dreams and ambitions. As part of this commitment, NELUMBO, NEPAL has launched a teacher support program over the past three years through which it has been providing skilled, experienced, and qualified teachers to three government schools — Shree Udaya Secondary School of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-07, Dhampus, Shree Janapriye Basic School of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality-07, Dhampus, and Shree Paundhur Basic School of Annapurna Rural Municipality-03, Paundhur. Each year, an official agreement is signed between NELUMBO, NEPAL, the concerned government school, and the respective local government, detailing various terms and conditions. This year’s agreement was signed on Shrawan 11, 2082 (July 27, 2025).
