Camp Findings
A total of 1,127 individuals registered for check-ups during the three-day general health camp and awareness program. According to the OPD data, the number of female participants (783) was significantly higher than that of male participants (344). Throughout the camp, a total of 4,512 services were provided, as detailed in Figure 1. While the health department of Raghuganga Rural Municipality reported that many residents suffer from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions, the OPD data from the camp indicated that bone, ear, and dental problems were even more common in the area.
As shown in figure 1, the Department of General Medicine registered the highest number of patients, followed closely by Orthopedics. The high flow of patients was particularly challenging to manage in the dental, ear, and orthopedic departments, as many individuals presented with moderate to severe conditions. Procedures such as arthritis treatment, ear syringing, ECG, USG, teeth scaling, tooth extractions, and restorations were carried out. Cases requiring further treatment were referred to various hospitals in Beni and Pokhara, with a total of 63 referrals that needed immediate attention; these cases were primarily related to ear, gynecology, and eye issues, among others. In addition to routine check-ups, the camp also addressed a few emergency cases involving high blood pressure and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD).
On the final day of the health camp, Raghuganga Rural Municipality awarded certificates of appreciation to all the volunteers who actively contributed to the three-day event. The certificates were presented by Mr. Bhab Bahadur Bhandari, Chairperson of Raghuganga Rural Municipality, Mr. Amrit Bhandari, Chairperson of Ward No. 02, and Mr. Chetnarayan Bhandari, Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality. The camp was deemed a success, receiving positive feedback from community members, government officials, and local representatives in attendance.
